The first post in our Kitchen Remodel Series is here and I am so happy to finally reveal some aspects of it to you guys. We planned this remodel at the right time and I would do it 1,000x over like this again.
So here’s the backstory, our home was built in the 70s BUT in 2009 the downstairs was renovated! So the previous owners made it an open floor concept and renovated the kitchen. Custom cabinets, countertops, and new appliances and it looked great! But here we are 10 years later and most of this is out of style. I knew I wanted to completely paint the cabinets and get new countertops for sure. The cabinets were custom so there was no need for me to get brand new cabinets so I knew painting would be sufficient. But if we are being honest, I didn’t want to mess or worry with painting them myself. I hear it is a big task and requires a ton of legwork so I wanted to leave this up to the professionals.
For the cabinets, I worked with Shannon and her team at Reclaimed Grace Cabinets. If you are local, they service the CSRA and do amazing work. They helped me choose colors based off of my inspo board and did all of the pesky legwork. We decided to do all white cabinets and a black island. I thought the black and white combo would be so timeless! We planned the cabinet and countertop part of the reno to be done while we were in Europe celebrating our 5 year anniversary and it was the best decision ever.
For the countertops, I knew I wanted something almost “all white” but something with some variation. I decided to work with another local company, Cornerstone Granite Co, and they were great to work with. They are a husband and wife team and were able to bring my vision to life. Our current island had a bar too and they cut the island down to be the same eleven and extend it a bit to give us some more space. I love the way it turned out!!!
I would definitely use both of these companies again in a heartbeat. They made such a large project be a walk in the park. Okay, enough of me talking about, let me show it to you!
